History

Everything started in the summer of 2008. I found at northernsounds.com, a thread titled “VSL legato script for Kontakt 2”. A user called Guga Bernardo posted the code of a functional legato script for the VSL. It worked, but a lot of stuff was missing. Among other things there was no octave offset, there was no funtion keys and it was not usable for some VSL collections. Another needed function was the selection between diferent patches or articulations via mod wheel or any Midi CC. I discovered here a Midi Filter writen by Nils Liberg that was exactly what I was looking for. Then I loaded a couple of patches on kontakt, each one with Guga’s legato script and Nil’s Midi filter script and tried to make them work together with no success. After several tests I couldn’t achieve my goal. Then I started reading the source code of the scripts. I’m not a programmer but I realized I could understand some parts, so I decided to grab the KSP manual in order to understand the whole thing. Once I thought I had learned enough, I took Nil’s and Guga’s ideas and started writing on a single script with all the needed specifications. I ended up with a set of scripts, Grand Legato, Selector and My Repetition Tool. When Kontakt 4 was released I made a K4 version of the scripts with a nice looking skin and decided to share my work whith other people. I’m not trying to make any profit here, just hope somebody finds it useful.
I`d like to thank the unknown german guy who actually wrote the legato script and Guga for posting the code at northernsounds.com.
I`d also like to thank Nils Liberg for his script editor and scripting tutorials.
His set of scripts were very inspiring to me.
Finally thanks to the VSL team, who made the best symphonic library ever.
